„В търсене на Месопотамия“: 5500 километра с мотоциклет през четири държави
Пътешественици ще прекосят Румъния, България, Турция и Иракски Кюрдистан в 15-дневна експедиция, посветена на приключенията, културата и историята
През октомври 2026 г. започва едно впечатляващо пътешествие на две колела – „In Search of Mesopotamia“ („В търсене на Месопотамия“). Експедицията ще измине повече от 5500 километра през четири държави за 15 дни, отвеждайки участниците от Букурещ през България и Турция до Иракски Кюрдистан и обратно.
Пътуването е планирано за периода 2–16 октомври 2026 г., а зад идеята стои желанието да бъде разказана историята на един от най-впечатляващите региони в света – мястото, свързано с появата на някои от първите градове, империи и търговски маршрути в човешката история.
От България до сърцето на Месопотамия
Маршрутът ще премине през Румъния, България, Турция и Ирак, като сред основните спирки са Истанбул, Кападокия, планината Немрут, Мардин, Ербил, Сюлеймания, каньонът Равандуз, Духок, Амеди и езерото Ван.
Планът предвижда дълги дни на път, планински участъци и хиляди километри през разнообразни пейзажи. Само първите етапи включват около 650 км от Букурещ до Истанбул и още приблизително 730 км до Кападокия. Общата прогнозна дистанция е между 5500 и 5700 километра.
България е важна част от маршрута – не просто като държава, през която експедицията ще премине, а като част от по-голямата история за връзката между Европа, Анадола и древна Месопотамия.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 ще бъде официалният мотоциклет
Официалният мотоциклет на експедицията ще бъде Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, предоставен от Royal Enfield Romania и Bulgaria. Машината ще трябва да се справи с повече от 5500 километра и с разнообразните условия по маршрута – от дълги асфалтови преходи до планински райони.
Но „In Search of Mesopotamia“ няма да бъде просто мотоциклетно предизвикателство. Целта е пътуването да се превърне в история за хората, културата, наследството и местата по пътя.
По време на експедицията ще бъдат създавани фотографии, видеоматериали, дневници от пътуването, тематични статии и съдържание за социалните мрежи. Проектът е замислен така, че аудиторията да може да следи не само красивите моменти, но и реалните предизвикателства на подобно пътуване.
Към инициативата вече са се присъединили медийни партньори, сред които Libertatea, DailyDriven, AutoExpert и Auto Motor und Sport Romania.
За българската публика експедицията предлага възможност да проследи едно необичайно пътешествие от Балканите към древните земи на Месопотамия – 5500 километра, четири държави, двама пътешественици и един мотоциклет.

“In Search of Mesopotamia”: A 5,500-Kilometre Motorcycle Journey Across Four Countries

In October 2026, an extraordinary journey on two wheels will begin. “In Search of Mesopotamia” is a motorcycle expedition covering more than 5,500 kilometres across four countries in just 15 days, taking its participants from Bucharest through Bulgaria and Turkey to Iraqi Kurdistan and back.
The expedition will take place from 2 to 16 October 2026 and was inspired by a desire to explore and tell the story of one of the most fascinating regions in the world – the land associated with the emergence of some of humanity’s first cities, empires and trade routes.
From Bulgaria to the heart of Mesopotamia
The route will pass through Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Iraq, with key stops including Istanbul, Cappadocia, Mount Nemrut, Mardin, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Rawanduz Canyon, Duhok, Amedi and Lake Van.
The journey will involve long days on the road, mountain sections and thousands of kilometres through dramatically different landscapes. The first stages alone include around 650 kilometres from Bucharest to Istanbul, followed by another 730 kilometres to Cappadocia. The total distance is expected to reach between 5,500 and 5,700 kilometres.
Bulgaria is an important part of the route, not simply as a country the expedition will cross, but as part of the wider story connecting Europe, Anatolia and ancient Mesopotamia.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – the official motorcycle of the expedition
The official motorcycle of “In Search of Mesopotamia” will be the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, provided by Royal Enfield Romania and Bulgaria.
The motorcycle will face more than 5,500 kilometres of constantly changing conditions, from long stretches of asphalt to demanding mountainous terrain.
But “In Search of Mesopotamia” is about much more than a motorcycle challenge. The aim is to turn the journey into a story about people, culture, heritage and the remarkable places encountered along the way.
Throughout the expedition, the team will document the experience through photography, video, travel journals, feature articles and social media content. Audiences will be able to follow not only the spectacular landscapes and memorable moments, but also the real challenges of undertaking such an ambitious journey.
Several media partners have already joined the project, including Libertatea, DailyDriven, AutoExpert and Auto Motor und Sport Romania.
For Bulgarian audiences, the expedition offers an opportunity to follow an unusual journey from the Balkans towards the ancient lands of Mesopotamia – 5,500 kilometres, four countries, two travellers and one motorcycle.
